Laptop Charger Compatibility & Pin Measurement Guide
The 4-Step Compatibility Rule
Follow this simple engineering checklist before purchasing any power adapter:
Must match your laptop's required input exactly (within ±5%). For instance, a 19.5V laptop must be paired with a 19.5V adapter.
Adapter output amperage must be equal to or higher than your laptop's specification. Higher amperage allows your laptop to charge cooler without straining the adapter.
The barrel plug dimensions (outer diameter × inner diameter) and center smart-pin presence must match your laptop's charging socket.
Multiplying voltage by amperage gives total wattage (e.g. 19.5V × 3.33A = 65W). Using a 90W charger on a 65W laptop is 100% safe.
